A Lenda sobre a criação do Japão

Conta uma lenda escrita no mais antigo livro do Japão o Kojiki, que no princípio do mundo o céu e a terra separaram-se e entre eles surgiu o 'Takama-no Hara' (Terra dos Deuses), e ali nasceram diversas divindades que passaram a habitar o território sagrado.

A terra ainda não estava solidificada mais parecia-se a um pantanal de lodo, onde cresciam arbustos e ervas daninhas. E em meio a tudo isso, nasceram outros deuses e entre eles o casal 'Izanagui e Izanami', criadores do arquipélago japonês.

Certo dia, Amatsugami (Deus do Céu) deu a 'Izanagui' uma arma enfeitada e confiou-lhe a tarefa de criar o Japão. Então, 'Izanagui' e sua esposa 'Izanami' dirigiram-se para a 'Ponte do Céu' e no meio dela pararam para observar a terra viscosa lá em baixo.

Logo Izanagui esticou o braço e enfiou sua arma sagrada dentro da lama remexendo-a. Quando retirou a arma caíram algumas gotas de lama da ponta, que logo cristalizaram-se em sal e por sua vez transformaram-se em uma ilha.

Vendo a ilha que acabaram de criar, 'Izanagui' e sua esposa 'Izanami' atravessaram a 'Ponte do Céu' e desceram aqui para a terra, onde fizeram um acordo entre si para criar novas ilhas, dando assim origem ao arquipélago japonês.
