Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 é o terceiro jogo da trilogia baseada em um dos animes mais populares do mundo. Contando com 20 arenas diferentes, o título expande ainda mais a fórmula de seu antecessor, aumentando significativamente o leque de possibilidades com novos movimentos e a maior lista de personagens já vista; ao todo mais de 150 lutadores da série podem ser escolhidos.
Entre as novidades implementadas no título estão novos ataques, combos e contra-golpes, além de um aperfeiçoamento dos controles sensíveis a movimento do Wii; golpes como o famoso Kamehameha são realizados com o simular dos movimentos característicos do anime com o controle.
Outra grande novidade adicionada ao pacote é o novo sistema que alterna o período da fase entre dia e noite ao longo da luta. A grande sacada está na lua cheia do período noturno, afinal, os sayajins transformam-se em macacos gigantes quando são expostos a esta fase lunar.

Among the innovations implemented in the title are new attacks, combos and counter-coups, and a refinement of the motion sensitive controls of the Wii, like the famous Kamehameha hits are performed with the simulation of the characteristic movements of the anime with the control.

Another great new feature added to the package is the new system that switches the phase period between day and nightthroughout the the fight . The great thing is the full moon of the evening, after all, the Saiyan transform into giant apes when they are exposed to the lunar phase.
